A Note from AFA’s Government Relations

Last week the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) passed its version of the National Defense Authorization Act, while the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) passed its version last week of April.

Highlights include:

·         HASC offered a 2.1% pay raise, while the Senate offered 1.6%

·         Both bills propose major, but different, changes to military healthcare.

·         Both committees included provisions requiring women to register for the draft.

·         The SASC included Goldwater-Nichols and acquisition reforms as well as provisions to increase the accountability in acquisition programs, including the F-35 and the B-21 programs.
